A few kilometers from the Spanish border, lies the seaside resort of Monte Gordo, a small town where the traditional Portuguese way of life goes hand in hand with the demands and wishes of today's holidaymaker. For centuries, fisherman's huts were the only sign of human habitation on the vast expanse of sand surrounded by the pine forests. The beauty of the beach and the safe and warm water attracted the first foreign tourists during the 1960’s.
